Jesus and Austin

This morning during worship at church out of the blue I began to think of the WWE superstar Steve Austin. You know the one who came up with Austin 3:16? As I began to think of this guy and how his character would strike fear into the his opponents. As I remembered how Steve Austin would enter the arena with his music and his stomping walk that he had, the ones that were in the ring would at times run or cower in fear because of the dominance he carried. As I was thinking of this it seemed that the Lord began to show me that when we are wrestling with the devil, Jesus comes into the scene with the same dominance as. At times we tend to look at Jesus as a soft spoken Savior. It was good to picture Jesus like that. I feel that when it comes to wrestling with the devil and Jesus steps into the scene, he does it with authority. I think Paul paints a perfect picture of what war as a christian like. Eph. 6:10-13. Theologian historians have said that when Paul wrote this portion of the chapter, that he was comparing it to the gladiators of his time. These men would fight to win their freedom. Each day we wake up, we are waking up in a battle. The devil is not going to lay down or stand aside as we proclaim our love and devotion to his arch enemy, Jesus Christ our savior. Jesus told us in John 10:10 that Satan has come to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus has become to bring us life and life to the fullest.
