Welcome Addis Abba

It was a glorious celebration when we landed in Addis Abba on Monday. People on the plane clapped and cheered when the Pilot announced over the intercom, “Welcome to Addis Abba!” We were greeted by a pleasant group of Ethiopian Airline staff when we exited the plane, with a rose for each one and a letter of apology. It was very touching, and now on to getting our Visa’s, then the task of finding all of our luaguge. So we are met at the door of the airport by one of good friends from last year, Aki. We exited the airport and went on to the Ethiopian Guest House. Such a wonderful staff here. When I went into the house I seen one of my friends from last year Tigsta. She was so happy to see me when I came in. When I called her by name she was even more surprised that I remembered her name. She told me that nobody remembers her name.

After we started getting settled in Nate asked me if I had seen the man at the corner clalapsed? I told him that I did not, but then we got together and took Dave the Dr. with us. He was being helped by one of his friends, we stopped them and Aki our translator told them that we wanted to try to help. We came to find out that this young man was actually the bus drivers assitant from last year the bus we used. We began to pray with him, and seen that he had a scar from a previous surgrey. He also had a doctor’s note saying that he could have appendicdes. He was in so much pain. After we had prayed with him the staff took him to the hospital. The next day we got word that he was doing better and he said that he began to feel better after we started praying with him. This was one of those times where we prayed and did not see any result, but it took a day later for us to here that God was using our prayers. Praise God, way to start our trip off, ministry to the poor and the sick.
