"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?'
And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" These are the words of Isaiah chapter 6 verse 5. Isaiah answering the call to go and preach the word and to bring a message of the new hope of the coming Messiah, Jesus. As I meditate on these words of Isaiah the prophet, I wonder today how many men and women could answer that call? As I was talking to a friend of mine that is in semiary at Lee University was telling me that today 99% of the United States population are not able to leave everything and go and do long term missions. That leaves only 1% that can drop everything and go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebzoET4XIj8&feature=related
The 99% that are here have other responsiblities, and thats not to say that the Lord cannot use them, cause He can and He does it everyday in community churches, local ministries, and short term mission trips along with supporting others in their ministries. All of these are needed and each person has a calling on their life for each one of those. Rather it is a calling to hold infants on Sunday at church or feeding the homeless.
Then there are the 1% that go to the places that are outside the communities of their homes. These are the ones that can walk away from their job and go and serve in other countries that need that relationship not to fix their problems, but to walk with them in community. This takes more than just a day off from work, but it takes a commitment to walk away from everyday life. Just as I have made with Mission Ethiopia. This is more than just a few weeks or a month, this has been something that I have dreamed about for the past 4 years. It has kept me focused in school knowing that I had a dream ahead of me. A dream that is bigger than I could ever do or fulfill for myself. This is about serving others in need. This is my passion. This is what I have longed to do for the past 4 years. Sadly I have put all of my efforts and money into school so I could finish. Now this opportunity has come my way to go, to be a part of that 1% that can go and serve. I will leave September 9 to depart to Addis Ababa arriving on their new year which is the 10th. I have wanted a new beginning in life with a new direction and here it is. Right here before me.
Just as Isaiah had responded to the Lord saying, "Here am I, send me!" I am saying the same. Here am I Lord send me! This is much bigger than myself as I had mentioned earlier and if I could do it alone, then it would not be much of a sacrifice or a step of faith. With your help in prayer each and everyday. This is how:
1. Pray that each single mother, widow, and orphan sees the love of Christ in me and nothing else.
2. That each day I surrender myself to the Lord and the work that He has called me to.
3. Pray that my relationship with my fiance will only be strengthen during this time through Christ Jesus.
4. Pray that all of my funds to make this happen will freely come in and that God will bless those even more who give than I am blessed through their giving.
Also I am still in need of people to support me monthly. If you would like to become a monthly supporter I want to first thank you in advance, cause without you this could not happen at all.
