A Dream Come True

A Dream Come True
A few weeks ago I was invited by a dear friend of mine to go to the Renaissance Festival this past May. We both had never been before, but always wanted to visit the festivities, and see what all the hype was about. We got there and she wanted to tour the castle, and so we did. First arriving there we met the mastermind behind the whole idea. He talked with everyone about when the festival started, and how it grew from there.
After he had spoken with our group I was intrigued by this and wanted to know more, the history of it all. So I asked him how it all got started. He told me that it was in drafting class in high school in 1978. He drew a castle that he would one day build to live in. In 1984 he purchased some land in Middle Tennessee, and in 1985 he broke ground that would one day a dream become reality. Because of this one man’s dream, hundreds of thousands have taken part in it.

Three years ago sitting in a small group bible study from church, we were going over the announcement sheet looking for the many ways to serve in our church. One of the ways was through missions in Ethiopia. I don’t know what happened to me at that moment and why Ethiopia, but my heart longed for it. That year I did not make it. I wanted to, but I think I talked myself out of it because I had never been over seas, and never had to raise funds like that.
The very next year I almost talked myself out of it again until Amanda Clark, our mission’s leader talked me into it. There so many different things touched me, and it could not have happened unless it was for those who supported me to go.

That following fall semester in class I was going through a notebook that I had used in the spring semester, and I seen what I wrote down as my goals for the year. One of those goals was to go to Ethiopia. I realized then that my dream the prior year became a goal then a reality. This was a reality that my heart longs for. The fatherless. Anyone who knows me knows that this is what my heart longs for. Mainly because I was fatherless, and had always struggled through that growing up. I long to see the joy on the faces of the fatherless when they see a man give them unconditional love.

In the next six days, that dream will once again become reality. This time we will get to build a playground for one orphanage, and in Uganda we will spend a day with the child soldiers. These are the children that are no more than just young kids that were kidnapped and forced to go to war. In one way or another they were able to escape and are now orphans due to the kidnapping.

In the next six days I have to raise $745.00 of the $3100.00 before I leave on June 20th. I ask you if you would pray and see if God would have you be a part of this reality by help sending me to bring the love of Christ to orphan children. You can go to www.sendchristoafrica.blogspot.com and click on the donate button there, or you can call me at 615.969.9601. Thank you again for your time and mainly for your prayers. Again, I could not do this if it were not for people such as yourself.
God bless you and keep you. Christopher Fisher

  1. Keep holding on strong Chris. Faith is the number one key. Once you loose that, you have nothing. I know you just have a few days left, but God will make a way. Everything happens for a reason. God knows your heart, and your passion. Keep holding on to your faith, and doors will be open.
